Remember when you post you have hundreds of friends and acquaintances in Facebook from all kinds of backgrounds, with different jobs, beliefs, personalities, etc. The simplest, honest comment could be offensive to some of your Facebook friends without you realizing it.

It's impossible to consider every one of your friends when updating/commenting publicly but you must mindful of their interpretation of your statement or you may loss them as a friend.

As much as you may think everyone wants to know your most intimate secrets, others may not share the same inclination. Family and friends might not take it too kindly when you post what they did last night at your house party, or any other stuff which are understood to be kept between your closest friends.

The fact is that most of their Facebook friends will hear about it in such a public platform. The walls indeed have ears, especially so for the Facebook Wall. Best to keep these conversations behind closed doors in Facebook Messaging.

For many of you this will seem to be simple common sense but recently I had to remind someone of this important social manner. If you need to inform your friends or your family about some important or personal news (e.g. death in the family), don’t declare it out in the public domain. This is especially important when this news may be confrontational or my upset the receiving party. Airing personal business on a public, social network is not appreciated by friends and may turn others against you too as they how you conduct yourself.

Personal or confrontational news should be delivered face to face or at the very least via the phone live with the person. Do not use Facebook, Buzz, Twitter, email, phone SMS text messages or voice mail for these important and delicate matters.
